There’s a reason why activity dates are so popular in 2019, and Rebound in Wandsworth has jumped on the bandwagon. Part casual eatery, part gaming hall, Rebound is tapping into a market of Londoners who are looking for something more than just a pint at their local to unwind.
Whether a game of shuffleboard is your thing, or if you prefer to sit down and play one of many classic board games, at Rebound there’s all sorts of ways to break the ice and get casually competitive with your date. Jenga, Cranium, and cards are just a taster of what’s on offer, not to mention the awesome retro arcade games in the corner – no skills required, just the ability to press as many buttons as you can at once, and believe us, it’s harder than it looks! Of course, if you aren’t feeling up for breaking the mould you can always revert to a typical game of pool – loser buys the drinks.
And the drinks are definitely worth mentioning. Rebound’s speciality is craft beer and cider, but has a small but perfectly-formed list of house cocktails too. The twist-on-a-classic strawberry mojito came recommended, and was thoroughly enjoyed! They also stock local gin, Hayman’s, which is distilled just down the road in Balham, a nice little nod to supporting local businesses. Prices are reasonable and there are regular offers too, so even if you’re strapped for cash this place will allow you a perfect little date night without breaking the bank.
The food menu focuses on fast, but fresh, food. Choose from homemade pizzas cooked in right in front of you, and varieties of loaded fries or mac ‘n’ cheese – this is comfort food done right, and the perfect accompaniment to a night of casual competition with your date. You can feel particularly smug about eating here, too, since Rebound supports charity Beyond Autism by donating a portion of the costs of any menu item ending in 50p, which goes directly to support work in the local community.
We would recommend Rebound for a date night with a difference. Cool but casual, this is somewhere you don’t need to worry about dressing up for or feeling fancy, it’s all about the good food, fun games, and laid-back vibe – leaving you to concentrate on enjoying present company.
